alexajs
Hi everyone, I'm fairly new to OSX86 and am looking for a bit of help. I have had a look through various threads to find some help but can't seem to find anything specific to what I'm looking for - if you know of a thread which would help fell free to re-direct me! I have recently bought a Dell XPS 8000 desktop with these specs: Intel i7 quad core chip 6 gb 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM NVIDIA GeForce GT220 graphics Integrated 7.1 sound (will buy a decent new sound card once I get something working...) I'm trying to set up SL on a second internal HDD and have tried installing with a USB drive which I prepared using the guide on the OSX86 wiki (http://osx86sv.wordpress.com/2009/09/30/ma...-usb-pen-drive/). However, when I boot from the USB drive I get the Chameleon screen which looks like it's going to try installing but then I get a black screen and the computer restarts. I have tried iDeneb in the past on my old Dell desktop and had moderate success with that, but that was a single core P4 chip and was quite a while ago. As far as I can tell there is mixed success with Dell builds but obviously people have managed to get OSX running on Dell laptops so I hope there is something I can do for my dektop. Can anyone recommend a particular install disc or technique to get OSX up and running? Realistically I want to use it for running Logic Studio and doing some instrument recording, so as long as I can get in install working and a sound card which I can get to work with it (which I would buy on recommendation) I'll be happy! Thanks in advance for any pointers/links/help Alex Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/205277-dell-xps-8000-install/ Share on other sites
totalnirvana
Did you try this guide yet? http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=151117 That's what I plan on doing when my Dell XPS Studio arrives in a few days.
