joew30mpls
Are there any pros out there that can help? Everything went smooth per the lifehacker guide. I had a USB stick with installer already and an external USB HD with 10.6.2 and apps clean fresh installed. I simply ran the EFI loader pointed at theh external HD and restarted the hackintosh to boot from it. Once running I ran disk utility to partition the internal disk to GUID and restored the external USB HD to the internal HD. I pointed the EFI loader to that newly cloned drive (which BTW I also tried cloning with CCC to no more success). I can get the darwin boot screen adn it shows my internal drive. I hit enter adn it begins to boot. The wheel spins and just keeps going, going, going to no avail. Any ideas why? Also, I can run a standard VGA lcd during BIOS, boot, and running system, but my 1080p projector will only run during BIOS and boot, then it crashes with a perfect no warning freeze. It will do this if the PJ is hooked up during boot or after booted. It is an Epson 6100 with a DVI -> HDMI cord. The video card is per the lifehacker guid, although a different brand. Thanks in advance! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/204945-cant-boot-from-internal-cloned-can-boot-from-usb/ Share on other sites

Thanks in advance! So it turns out I needed to replace three kexts from 10.6.1 in my 10.6.2 install because Apple changed them and they are no longer compatible with HCDP compliant HDMI displays. After re-trying to clone the 10.6.2 (with updated video kexts) USB drive with Disk Utility then re-applying the Lifehacker boot/EFI deal, it worked. I still can't understand why this would work, but starting from 10.6 on the internal then running software update would yield an un-bootable drive?? Now just setting up and trying to get 7.1 audio working, as this was meant to be a full DTS 7.1 compatible media center. I have multiple channels going now, but sub and maybe center is missing and something just sounds "off". The search begins for a 7.1 compatible kext for the UD3P motherboard onboard audio. Anyone?
