I have been connecting to my server for testing different file types. Today I logged in to the server only to find a doodle load of DS_STORE and other files. My system is full {censored} that is going to take days to find it all. Why is it writing these files to my server, if all I'm doing is reading the file. I will be turning off write access for now untill I understand why this is happening. belgrano Posted September 6, 2005 Share Posted September 6, 2005 These .DS_STORE files are similar to Thumb.db and Desktop.ini from Windows. If you open a file in OS X (a file which was not created in OS X but in Windows or Linux), there is a trace (backup?) called ._file.extension. Also if you delete some file in OS X, there are .Trashes and ._.Trashes which are left behind. At least that is what I can tell.
