body { background: #FFFFFF; margin: 0px; padding: 4px; font-family: Verdana, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt; } Apparently some settings in the smbios.plist file do affect the performance of a system.

When using smbios.plist with copied macbookpro4 settings I found online, pcefi10.5 performace in geekbench dropped by 1000 points and usb performance got very low (4mb vs 50mb)

Only after removing the file and let pcefi sort it out i got a macpro2,1 system (nicely recognized by geekbench instead of the hackingtosh model) with much better score and usb performance.

Does this scenario sound familiar to others? And how is it even possible that smbios does effect the performance of a system because I thought smbios is only cosmetic to get proper values in “about this mac” and recognition by certain applications.
