bhoku
iPC 10.5.6 does not have anything installed in the /Extra folder on my system. I read Netkas and other guides concerning updating to newer sequence 10.5.8 from 10.5.6. However, there's no guide going from 10.5.6 to 10.5.8 skipping the one in the middle. I read that in the guide to have all necessary kexts, such as, AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext, Appledecrypt.kext, Disabler.kext, dsmos.kext, IntelCPUPMDisabler.kext, installed to /Extra folder. Does he mean to copy them over? Or to actually have them installed to /Extra? I backup /Extensions folder to .backup If all goes well I should be able to: Update to 10.5.8, reboot once or twice, insert iPC dvd, pick the patches, reboot, use -f -v, make necessary changes if need be by using the backup Extensions. This should work theoretically speaking. Any better ones? Lord_Jeremy
If you used a Distro disk, you might not have /Extra. If you do, and the aforementioned kexts are there (older versions), put the new ones in /Extra/Extensions. If not, put them in /System/Library/Extensions and replace existing. Oh before you do any of that back up both Extensions directories. Good luc!
