I'm trying to install iDeneb 1.6 on my computer:

Acer Aspire 7520:

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 x2 TK-57

NVidia GeForce 7000M

3GB DDR2 memory

nForce 610M motherboard

160GB (found out it's ATA
:)
) HDD

Now the problem is that iDeneb doesn't recognize my hard disk (not in Select Destination neither in Disk Utility)..

I've tried to format it to unallocated, unformatted, hfs+, ntfs.. Nothing works...

I've heard about a AHCI option in the BIOS, but it's not there.. So that's not going to work..

What should I do now?

Who will help me? :)

Okay you have to do some work on your own, in order for this forum to be able to help you better.

I just googled your laptop and see it is a SATA hdd. You said IDE (you think)... this OSX86 project is time intensive and you have to know your components in order to load the correct drivers, etc.

I would suggest downloading different builds and see which sees your HDD. After all this is prior to any install being done, so disk utilities should see the HDD. In a regular PC I would say take the HDD out and try it on a different PC or better yet, a working MAC via USB just to see what you get...

Otherwise, download ideneb kalway ipc etc and try and see why your HDD is not being seen.

A simpler option is to try to install to an USB HDD (for now) til you get that worked out.

Did you google your laptop and osx86 etc to try to find any guides that may help you select the right settings?

Good Luck! Keep everyone posted and when successful, try and write a guide.

First, thanks for you reply,

I've tried to install iPC (which doesn't start at all), Kalway (which I can only find an x86 version of), and I'm now trying to download LawlessPPCPhenom 10.5.4 due to an advice from: http://www.muzzle.nl/osx86-installatie/322...ire-7520-a.html (it says LawlessPPCPhenom 10.5.4 is the system which is especially for AMD.. So you'll hear..

Now since my USB-hard drive is used to store all my photographs and stuff, I can't use it for this now.. I can try whether iDeneb recognizes this drive but I won't install anything on it...

And taking a harddrive from a laptop has no use, because I've got nothting to connect it to ;)

What I also tried ('ve done much in the meanwhile  ) is changing the partition table build in Ubuntu.. You could choose GUID Partition table and Apple partition table (<= I chose this one), but unfortunately it didn't work out..

Now first let's try LawlessPPCPhenom 10.5.4

You'll hear if it works out well :pirate2:

Why not try, you wont break anything

here are others to try

platform=ACPI (ACPI support)

platform=X86PC (non ACPI support)

platform=ACPI|86PC (try to support ACPI if fails do not support it)

Tried rd=disk0s1 and rd=disk0s2, but they didn't work.. No drives...

Also tried the platform codes but they don't work either..

Thanks for help, but any other ideas :) ?

How many partitions on drive?

It is defiantly pata?

I want to use the full drive for this.. So 1 partition..

Using GParted I formatted the whole drive first to unalocated (doesnt work), unformatted and hfs+ (both don't work)..

The drive is SATA for sure.. It says so on the label on the drive itself so.... :)

Try fat32 & make sure its active, all I can suggest

how to make it active??

Do I have to flag it, or does it go automaticly??

available flags:

boot, hidden, lba, lvm, palo, prep, raid

let's see... I'm quite nervous  ... I really want this to work ^^

Update from me soon :)

UPDATE:

And....... It doesn't work :)

Now I thought of something else....

My external drive IS being recognized by iDeneb.. So can I install iDeneb on this drive, and just copy/paste it to my local drive?? Is that possible using GParted or whatever?

Let's try?^^

Tomorrow:P

Is this possible??

I had same problem to installed iDeneb 10.5.7

but 10.5.6 can find the disk to install.

so I recommend you to install with 10.5.6 then update to new version.

but i'm waiting for iDeneb with snow leopard.

Can I know your specs? Are you on a laptop or desktop? IDE or SATA hard drive??

I think I've already tried 10.5.6, but I'm not sure.. Let's try whether it works ;)

If not I just try using my USB drive

I tried doing it with my USB drive... Copied the partition from the USB to my local drive using GParted.. Now it gives me a GRUB error ( <_< wtf :P).. Does this in the first place means that GRUB is installed with iDeneb??? I don't believe that!

Now trying again with iAtkos... <_<

  • 1 month later...
