magicjohn
I have been having trouble booting the JAS 10.4.6 installation on my P4 3.2G SSE3 computer. I was getting a divide by zero panic on the boot after installation, which went fine. I disabled hyperthreading after seeing a not about a coreduo having troubles and they referenced hyper threading. I also disabled CPU ID limits, but I don't think this mattered. Hope this helps someone. bottleNeckKiller
For me to get JaS 10.4.6 to bootup is to install it in a working partition of 10.4.5, 10.4.4. This partition (10.4.5, 10.4.4) can be formatted when installing JaS 10.4.6. Before installing JaS 10.4.6 the partition that this OS goes in have to be working for 10.4.5, 10.4.4, 10.4.3. This works for me. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/20397-1046-jas-install-panic-on-boot/#findComment-138104 Share on other sites
Nice one
For me to get JaS 10.4.6 to bootup is to install it in a working partition of 10.4.5, 10.4.4.This partition (10.4.5, 10.4.4) can be formatted when installing JaS 10.4.6. Before installing JaS 10.4.6 the partition that this OS goes in have to be working for 10.4.5, 10.4.4, 10.4.3. This works for me. OK so what if you do not have a working 10.4.5 or10.4.4 partition? What happens? If there is not partition on the hdd will the JAS 10.4.6 DVD not boot to the installer? I have tried the JAS 10.4.6 DVD (no ppf patches on it) on 4 diff machines and get nothing but "Still waiting for root device" everywhere during kernel boot. I even created a type af partition with linux - no go. I will patch the DVD with JAS PPF1 patch and see what happens. My MB is an Intel 845PE which some have reported working. My Intel processor is SSE2 capable only (P4 533 2.66Mhz). Nice one
OK i'll answer my own question here: have to run the ppf1 patch over the plain old JAS 10.4.6 DVD off the torrents. It gets past that pesky "Still waiting for root device" problem. Definately a problem with finding disk controller hdd etc. Installing osx86 now....
