sKurt
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Firstly I'm an Intel person and have been for some 20 years. I just was able to install MAC OS X on my old Compaq 5000 PC. I think it's a great OS and I also have 8 old school Macs SEs/SE30s Classics. Having said that; The Hackintosh OS X 10.4.4 doesn't recognize the onboard ethernet card (I'll deal with that as I can) I've also tried an Intel Pro 10/100 card and today I bought a AirLink 101 card with a RealTek 8139d chipset with no luck, my Compaq 5000 'sees' the on-board ethernet, however, it is greyed out and the only selections I get are the 2 serial and one Firewire port, so I have hooked the Mac to the PC using a Firewire connection and WinSCP for file xfers. I've set the Firewire IPs to 192.168.1.100 on the PC and .50 for the Mac Firewire connection. They talk and transfer files with ease and much faster than the regular ethernet avenue. I've setup WinXP with internet sharing using the Internet Connection Sharing Wizard and as I am leaving this message here, it still works , however, I'm not sure how to set the Mac up to share the connection from Mac Firewire to WinXP Firewire to WinXP Ethernet to Toshiba Wireless CableModem Router. I can see the PC fine from the Mac and the Mac from the PC but all attempts at using the Firewire to share the internet from the Mac to the PC have failed. I'd love an assist with enabling the internet on the Mac PC using firewire to make a Mac to PC connection and using the PCs internet cablemodem access so that I can upgrade/update the Compaq and further my knowledge of the Apple community until I can get a MacBook.
