so , hello everybody!

i bought myself a new CPU, the AMD Phenom II x4 965 black edition.

my question to you guys is:

is it possible to run any osx from 10.5 or newer on this thing?!?

i looked into all those osx86 wiki thingies and it wasnt mentioned this COULD mean it's simply not possible, or there was simply nobody that ever made any experiences with this thing when it comes to hackintosh stuff...

so the mainboard i currently run on is the ASUS M2N SLI Deluxe...it's not copatible with that new CPU, means i've got to get myself a new mobo anyway cuz it has an AM3 socket and stuff.

so if there is a chance to get this thing running on osx without any major problems or difficould changes i have to make during the installation , which motherboard would be the best solution for me?

another question would be which release is there for me to get everything running?!?

i hope you guys can give me some answers to this :(

thanx in advance,

Bitur

I have an msi k9a2 plat rev.1. I know that with a x2, it worked fine for running OSX. I can't remember the distro. It may have been kalaway, but I could be wrong. I had everything working, lan, video, and even audio Everything worked, period.

There is a kext that works for audio.

I have NOT tried it on my PII 945. I'm running win 7 and am MORE than happy to stay there, but I might just have to try it to see if it'll work. I don't see why not honestly.

This board is not the easiest to get your hands as MSI has stopped producing it. It has been replaced with the GD-70 which is AM3, and better. There will be another revision when the 890NB comes out, but that'll be another issue. If you want to stay with AMD, I'd go AM3 as Thuban (6 core) will be the last AM3 chip that'll even work with with AM2+ sockets. Bulldozer and the following will have only DDR3 controllers, unlike PII and Thuban which have ddr2&3 controllers on the chip.

Like I said, if you're looking for something better, AM3 will be in for the longhaul, BUT I don't know anything about OSX on it.
