Spotlight and Search OSX

I have just one question about the search functionality in OSX.

 

WTF is up with that???

 

I have like a file named abbracadabra wich im eyeballing in my current directory, i go out of finder, using the spotlight search to find the file... i search for it, nothing shows up... i go back in finder to make sure its there, its there... i try to search in finder being IN the folder containing the file, you know what... search shows up 0 returns... i mean... cmon, wtf is this? this should work out of the box? i heard great things about search on OSX? wtf is up?

 

I actually googled it, says something about you have to reset the indexing, duno about that, do i really have to go into the system and add some settings to make it work? this is pissing me of beyond...geez, merry xmas btw! lolol

ive heard alot of arguments about osx being great and windows is just {censored} in comparison, mostly coming from the mac people, i thought it was ok, i dint care about that, i was happy with xp just the way it was and never compared it to another OS, now that i actually use osx im so confused about some standard features like the Finder, Search, and Uninstallers on this OS.. i never had any problem with this on Windows, it was never broke, maybe it was crippled compared to some fancy metadata search capability on some other operating system, i never missed that feature anyways, never needed it, im not an idiot to place files in places i dont know that i have to use a super advanced search engine for it to find them for me, i can track down a file in xp in a matter of seconds anyway and i allways end up with faster returns than the way to find files in OSX.... Finder being one of the reasons for that, and not that i need super fast searching anyways, im looking for something i can count on, and not something i have to keep working with having to go into my system and reindex and whatnot for it to work when i need it..... baaaaaaaaaaah.

 

Secondly, search is a function when you are totally lost about something, its another thing to actually be able to work with your results other than just open the file when you find it. Finder being the biggest cripple ware i have yet stumbled upon in 20 years of computer experience.
