X!N
system Specs Abit AB9Pro Mobo Intel Core2Duo e6600 ATI HD4850 PCI-e 512MB Sapphire 2GB RAM M-Audio Delta 1010 Soundcard Vendor: 1002 Device: 9442 Hey all. Although I'm very new to this osx86 modding, I did my research and got a vanilla installation of Kalyway osx86 10.5.2. to work for me. Initially there was no usb ports working which I also found a fix for. The next problem was my soundcard which I have found a fix for too. The only thing left is my screen resolution. I am not interested in gaming on osx86 but I will be using Logic Audio SOftware which takes up a LOT of screen on lower resolutions. Currently I'm stuck at 1024x768 and would very much appreciate some help in the way of suggestions on how to up my resolution. 1280x1024 would be sufficient. Research in the osx86 wiki shows that the earliest recorded osx86 platform to support 4850 cards is 10.5.6/7. I was wondering if theres someway to get the kexts working in 10.5.2 or would I have to upgrade to that version? Stuff tried so far: I should mention I have tried the "Graphics Mode"="1280x1024x32" boot option with no success. I have also found THIS THREAD which has Legacy ATI 4800 series drivers but couldn't get that to work. I used the kexthelper B7 to install it aswell I also created a 10.6 SL Boot Drive, installed Chameleon etc but couldn't get SL to install properly...not even sure if thats completely necessary as all I want is a higher resolution on my screen. Thanks in advance for any advice. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/203638-kalyway-52-ati-4850-resolution-tweak-solved/ Share on other sites

Thanks in advance for any advice. PROBLEM SOLVED WITHOUT NEEDING TO UPGRADE TO SL! ALl I did was follow the instructions in THIS POST! A quick rundown of what I did: Followed the steps laid out for 4850: 4850 INSTRUCTIONS1. Download this to your desktop, and run the installation package. Don't restart just yet: [Rapidshare.de] http://rapidshare.de/files/45661062/7_rade...rivers.pkg.html [Mediafire] http://www.mediafire.com/?mz1leyhyolh [badongo] http://www.badongo.com/file/13612115 [DepositFiles] http://depositfiles.com/en/files/pxf70804a 2. Download this: http://rapidshare.de/files/46870770/ATY_Motmot.kext.zip.html and install the kext file with Kext Helper. 3. Reboot with -f -v (kextcache/verbose mode). After doing this, I got a black screen on reboot. Without resetting I plugged the second DVI out on my card with a spare DVI to VGA adapter I had lying about and got a screen glitch. Then I rebooted with -f -v again and got a blue screen with cursor but no OSX boot. Rebooted again and this time followed these instructions from the same post I first linked: 1. Boot with -s, and do the following commands:CODE /sbin/mount -uw / cd /system/library/extensions rm -r ATI* rm -r natit.kext* reboot 2. Reboot with -f -v. 3. Install this: http://www.mediafire.com/?mz1leyhyolh 4. Then install this: http://rapidshare.de/files/47335568/Enable..._cards.pkg.html 5. Go to /system/library/extensions and open ATINDRV.kext. Go into the plugins folder and delete ATY_motmot.kext. 6. Reboot with -f -v. That did the trick and I booted into OSX 5.2 with 1280x1024 resolution on my hd4850. Hope this helps someone else who is not that bothered about having the latest version and just wants to fix their screen resolution with 4850 using Kalyway. RayMacx64
I am confused. Did you use the DVI to VGA adapter to attach your monitor with a vga cable or just plug a DVI to VGA adapter in the port with nothing attached ? PROBLEM SOLVED WITHOUT NEEDING TO UPGRADE TO SL!
