ant plugger
Hi, I just did a new install of 10.6.2 per Lifehackers guide and then migrated applications across using the migration assistant from 10.5.8 environment. Both 10.5.8 and 10.6.2 run on the same hardware and everything is working fine. What is frustrating is that all my applications are asking to be re-authorised (Logic 9 Express, many of the plugins) Is this standard during the upgrade procedure or is there something I did not migrate ? Thanks for any help Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/203425-1062-install-applications-requiring-re-authorisation/ Share on other sites
kalel83
my guess is that this is intended for legal reasons. say you clone a computer with photoshop cs4 installed, 30 times, and are able to use that single activation on all computers because it copied the authorization from the first. i doubt they would want/allow that to happen. i could be wrong Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/203425-1062-install-applications-requiring-re-authorisation/#findComment-1366226 Share on other sites

I would imagine that is the problem with many, if not all, of your apps wanting to be authorized again. SticMAC™
You are 100% correct!! This is very true, especially on the Adobe side! They are all bound on machine's hardware ID's. Some software even bind themselves to the MAC address of the NIC! MS Office itself may check for duplicate copies on the network and refuse to work!
