i've searched and read other threads about kernel panics, but i'm still having problems.

first, i was planning on trying to build my own hackintosh from scratch, but i ended up buying one for pretty cheap off of craigslist. i kind of regret doing this because i don't know too much on how this one was built, but there's nothing i can do about it now.

here are my current specs:

OS: OS X 10.5.8 (updated from 10.5.7)

CPU: Intel E5200 Dual-Core Processor @ 3.3GHz

RAM: 2x 1GB DDR2

HDD: Western Digital 320GB SATA2 7200RPM

VGA: NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT 256MB

that's about all that i know about this hack, and that it uses darwinx86 to boot.

every once in awhile i'll get a kernel panic while watching something with vlc player, but for the most part it runs fine. however, i keep getting kernel panics when i'm using ableton live 8, and i also get kernel panics pretty often when watching videos on youtube.

i've tried running osx86 tools and checking everything in the system maintenance, but it's not helping. is there a way to find out why i keep getting kernel panics when using ableton live? anyone know of a way to fix this? any help or info would be much appreciated.

i'm not exactly sure because i bought this pre-made.

my other music programs usually work fine. i'll get a kernel error with the other programs every once in awhile, but for some reason i always get them with ableton. i can maybe use the program for 10min at most and i'll get a kernel error.

here's what i see in the osx86kextbackup folder:

-VoodooHDA.kext

-ALCinject.kext

-HDAEnabler.kext

-NVInject.kext

-AppleUSBEHCI.kext

-IOATAFamily.kext

-AppleUSBUHCI.kext

-AppleUSBOHCI.kext

-AppleHDA.kext

will deleting applehda.kext possibly solve my problem?

Hey, sorry to get back to you so late. (Took a bit of a holiday hiatus.) It's probably worth a shot to try moving that AppleHDA kext somewhere else and rebooting. In truth, I don't know exactly what that kext is all about. I haven't heard much of anything about it. Also, you could try searching for a newer version of VoodooHDA. I used to have pops and clicks in my audio that went away when I got the latest version. Be careful that whichever version you find isn't only for Snow Leopard. A good place to start would be here.
