How to mount NTFS drives?

Okay for one reason or another I can't mount my NTFS drive with all my storage on it while in SL. I have tried everything from ntfsMounter to NTFS3G. The drive is listed as

mount_ntfs /dev/disk1s1 /Volumes/NTFS

 

enjoy your (read-only) volume.

 

No custom kexts, no custom commands, plain (snow) leopard stuff.
