retroz
I have the intel board, work good, but the VM is supposed to get about a 20% increase with a D930, so that would be 3.6 which sounds pretty good. Of course I would have to add a FIREWIRE card! Wondering what everyones thoughts are about this board! Also, looking into some of the T2600 Core Duo boards, but so far, (only a few posts here) apparently some of them do not work out of the box, due to no patch yet. But the interesting thing is that some of the 479 pin (duo core boards/mobile) is that they may be compatible with forthcoming chips (desktop) from intel. Thoughts? Out of pocket so far $490, 10.4.6 upped my Xbench by almost double... boo50
where did you get info what ASUS vs Intel get you 20% increase ? i'm don't think so. the boards are the same. i see several posts of xbench with the same configuration as mine(Pentium D805+Intel D945 GNTL, 2*512 RAM), but with the Asus board. and i don't see much difference. asus - over 90-95, mine is 89-91. and i don't thought what this is from Mobo, just i have slover HDD (2 years old seagate ata drive VS new SATA2) Maybe you have no disabled BeamSync and no Quartz2d Extreme ? VS results on Asus with them ? retroz
I'm speaking about overclocking the D 930 or so.... It has an automatic 10% overclock.......so there is a 3.3 gain.....and some can go higher... I'm just wondering if it's worth it, or how close the boards are and whether or not the memory plays as much of a role (FSB) as overclocking a AMD does. Where memeory really needs to be top notch, OCZ, etc. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/20207-asus-p5ld2-vm-vs-intel-boards-out-of-the-box/#findComment-133438 Share on other sites
