amigaosx
I've searched the forum for someone who had this problem, but I only found topics about dualbooting in the same drive. I have already installed Windows7 on 1 Drive and OSX on a 2nd Drive. Before, i had dualbooting with XP and OSX with the chainO method editing the boot.ini, but it is useless now, i tried using easyBCD but i wasnt able to make it work right. Now if I want to change OSs i need to go into BIOS and set the drive I want to boot first, this is no problem, but I want the old method of just selecting the OS before the system loads. What is the easiest solution to this? Thanks EDIT: FIXED! the easyBCD app was creating some bad path for the bootloader, so i had to manually put the right folder under C: This is what the EasyBCD looks like: There are a total of 2 entries listed in the Vista Bootloader. Bootloader Timeout: 15 seconds. Default OS: Windows 7 Entry #1 Name: Windows 7 BCD ID: {current} Drive: C:\ Bootloader Path: \Windows\system32\winload.exe Windows Directory: \Windows Entry #2 Name: OS X Leopard BCD ID: {7e9bf1be-e63b-11de-ab53-bc8eeb7dcecb} Drive: C:\ Bootloader Path: \NST\nst_mac.mbr Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/202027-windows7-osx-1056-dualboot-2-hard-drives/ Share on other sites
StringsOnFire
Hi I tried 7 and osx with 2 drives and easybcd. It but the NST thing in a different folder in 'devices'. I played around a bit and got easybcd to change it to the same path as yours is, then I moved the file to match. Now when I try to boot into mac I get the chain boot error. Any ideas? Sorry for offtop. I have Dell XPS420 too, but with 2 HDD (no RAID!) in usual SATA mode. I have Windows 7 installed on first and Kalyway 10.5.2 on second. I using small trick for dual boot: DELL have F12 on reboot to choice startup disc. So, with my DELL starting, I'm pressing F12 and select desired HDD: 1st - for Windows and 2nd - for Leopard! StringsOnFire
Turns out Chameleon now works wonders with booting windows. Install Windows to your primary hard drive, then switch the primary to mac and install chameleon RC3 or 4. It should then let you boot to any of the hard drives. see the guide I uploaded for a bit more info Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/202027-windows7-osx-1056-dualboot-2-hard-drives/#findComment-1376548 Share on other sites
