kassar87
Hi there, and thanks in advance for any help you can provide!. Apologies for using my first ever post to ask for help :S I have decided to buy a new PC, and since dad is using an "ancient" G4, thought I'd try to get Snow Leopard working on this one to give to him for Christmas. The Specs are: Gigabyte P35-DQ6 (1.1rev, Latest bios (9) Q6600 @ 3.0ghz 2*2GB Kingston HyperX 800mhz MSI 8800GT 640gb Sata HDD 2* 320GB Sata HDD Netgear WPN311 Wi-fi card. (I think all of this should work with 10.6 / 10.6.2, feel free to tell me otherwise, a bit worried about the wifi) I've decided to do a windows7/10.6 dualboot, but decided to worry about that once/if I actually get OSX going. I decided to try following this guide http://lifehacker.com/5360150/install-snow...acking-required as I hoped the two motherboards would be similar enough (same Audio, etc) I now realise that may have been a mistake. Dad's G4 has 10.5 on it, so I was able to create the 10.6 install USB (and patched it with the The EP45UD3P Snow Leopard install package from that guide). The setup starts fine, Used Disk Utility to partition the drive, GUID, etc. and started setup. It gets about 20-30% in then gives me an "Install Failed" message (The installer could not copy the necessary support files) Checking the Installer Log there were apparently a few errors minutes before it died "Looking for system packages, no system packages found, No or Invalid system receipts found on /volumes/Snow Leopard,Error writing cache, Failed to enumerate) Sorry, I tried savind the log to a USB drive, but it said I didn't have permission (not great with OSX) It seemed to get past that, as the last entry (error) was a few minutes after. Failed to verify AdditionalSpeechVoices.pkg *4 Failed to download package from file://localhost/System/Installation/Packages/AdditionalSpeechVoices.pkg and no alternate source. Install failed: The Installer could not copy the necessary support files. Anyone know what would have caused this? Will try redoing the USB in the morning (almost 2 in the morning, Dad's the only one with a Mac). I realise that I perhaps shouldnt be using the EP45UD3P package, but I'm not overly confident doing it all manually. I wouldn't have thought it would have caused this particular problem though. Sorry for ranting on for so long, I clearly don't know as much as I should. Any help would be greatly appreciated Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/201839-help-please-p35-dq6-install-error/ Share on other sites
kassar87
Try this installer helperhttp://osx86.sojugarden.com/installer/ Thanks, I had a read of that, but looked like i might need my own kexts, etc. I tried my install with v3 of the p45 installer from http://stellarola.tumblr.com/page/3 and it looks like it was only a problem with putting the ISO onto my USB, as when I did it all again it worked. Booted into OSX now, just applying the 10.6.2 update, everything seems to be working except the wifi (Was reading a guide on this site that should help with that). Thanks again for the help!
