Freaky Chokra
i'm not new to this community, but this time a had a first problem to appear, and this is my first post so, the story: when i bought a new hdd, i've installed 10.6 directly without creating partitions as you might know, this doesn't allow me using bootcamp and updating EFI so, i decided to make it all right way 1. i've made a backup with TM to a TC 2. booted via 10.5.2 install dvd (i've lost my 10.6 upgrade dvd) 3. formatted the hdd properly and created 1 partition called "Macintosh HD" (the same name for a hdd i used at my backup setup) 4. selected a time-machine restoring 5. selected the newest backup file so, the restoring was complete i've rebooted my mac for a normal use, but suddenly.. YOU NEED TO RESTART YOUR COMPUTER appears i've done these operations again using the oldest backup, but it didn't work here's my mac in -v mode: can somebody help me? Hi. Firstly, I can't see the posted image or screenshot; or if it is a link... it doesn't open. Secondly... Is your a true blue Mac computer or a Hackintosh? If Hackintosh... just take a deep breath and expect some hiccups and problems. Have you tried re-installing Chameleon boot loader again? For that you'd need a Working SnowLeo or Leo install on another partition. That's the first step. Thirdly, try these in order: 1] boot with -f -v or 2] boot with -f -x -v or 3] boot with -f -x -s -v if your are using Hackintosh, and with Chameleon, try the last Chameleon 2.0 release 653 NOT the RC4.. ok? After running with the above commands if that doesn't work, try the same but with additional flags as under: 1] boot with arch=i386 -f -v or 2] boot with arch=i386 -f -x -v or 3] boot with arch=i386 -f -x -s -v OR ELSE 1] boot with -x32 -f -v or 2] boot with -x32 -f -x -v or 3] boot with -x32 -f -x -s -v OR ELSE 1] boot with arch=i386 -x32 -f -v or 2] boot with arch=i386 -x32 -f -x -v or 3] boot with arch=i386 -x32 -f -x -s -v Finally, once you are able to boot to the desktop, run the following commands: chown -R root:wheel /Volumes/Snow/System/Library/Extensions/ chmod -R 755 /Volumes/Snow/System/Library/Extensions/ kextcache -v 1 -a i386 -a x86_64 -m /Volumes/Snow/System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kext.caches/Startup/Extensions.mkext /Volumes/Snow/System/Library/Extensions/ chown -R root:wheel /Volumes/Snow/Extra/Extensions/ chmod -R 755 /Volumes/Snow/Extra/Extensions/ kextcache -v 1 -a i386 -a x86_64 -m /Volumes/Snow/Extra/Extensions.mkext /Volumes/Snow/Extra/Extensions/ NOTE: CHANGE THE RED COLORED "Snow" to the actual name of your Snow Install partition. Waiting for your reports & results. -Regards, Freaky Chokra PS: I had a problem like this.... and had tried using my Time Machine backup for restoring... but failed miserably. Ended up re-installing.
