Hi All,

Im new to this forum, but im hoping to get a laptop that can run osx and has a core i7 processor (and ideally is a bit cheaper than a 17in macbook pro would be, haha). I have been looking at the Acer Aspire AS8940-6865 and would like to know if anybody has gotten this working or thinks it's possible to get this working?

core i7-720

Mobile Intel PM55 Express

4gb DDR3 1066 SDRAM

NVIDIA® GeForce® GTS 250M

doesn't specify audio chipset

Intel® Wireless WiFi Link 5100

if you dont think this would work, can anybody recommend something?

The search feature seems to be broken, but doing a google "site:insanelymac.com" search doesn't seem to bring up anything on this laptop, if there is another thread, please point me that way.

Thanks for any thoughts,

-Ryan

I purchased this laptop recently and am working on getting a stable snow leopard install on it.

So far I've had to use a modified kernel, and have gotten kernel panic's pretty frequently. Video works at full res, (havent tested vga or hdmi port yet) no wifi, or sound yet.

Some drawbacks I've seen so far is the lack of bios configuration available. Most of the how tos tell you to change certain bios settings that are just not available. I've flashed up to the latest bios.

There may be a way to get everything running stable, I haven't had a lot of time to throw at it. This is just my experience so far.

If anyone has any suggestions based on this motherboard / cpu combo let me know!
