xTommyx
Hey guys, I'm having a bit of a problem here. First, my specs: Dell Inspiron 1525 320gb hard drive 3gb ddr2 memory intel core 2 duo 2.00 ghz inte gma x3100 Using iPC 10.5.6 Final So here's the problem. To install Safari 4, I had to change my system version to 10.5.8 by just editing some text. After that, I downloaded AppFresh to keep my apps up to date. I saw some apple updates avaliable so I downloaded the latests java update and the security update for 2009-006. I later read that 006 is only for 10.5.8, when I am really on 10.5.6. Now everytime I boot up, I get a blue screen after the apple logo which creates many crash files, mostly on the loginwindow. I don't have any of that APE software, and I cannot boot up into safe mode (using -x flag). Verbose mode shows errors such as the firewire defaulting security options. I am using a dual boot of 10.5.6 and Windows 7, and can boot fine into Windows 7 through Chameleon. I can work in single user mode so any of that code won't be a problem for me. I would really not want to have to reinstall OSX again because I have some school work on there I would rather not get erased. If you have any suggestions, please just leave a post. Everything is appreciated. Thank you. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/201073-blue-screen-after-security-update/ Share on other sites
Lord_Jeremy
Blah. That's a messy situation. Honestly I don't think I can recommend anything other than boot up another OS (or DVD), back up your data, and reinstall. Right now your system is probably a hodgepodge of things that aren't designed to run together. Maybe if you could find some way to install the 10.5.8 combo update without actually booting the system you could at least get it running enough to back up your stuff. Unfortunately I have no idea how to do that, short of making a bootable OS X disk that just installs the update. Devish
Hey guys, I'm having a bit of a problem here. First, my specs: Dell Inspiron 1525 320gb hard drive 3gb ddr2 memory intel core 2 duo 2.00 ghz inte gma x3100 How about installing SL with boot132 and make everything running Vanilla, so next time you click an Apple update nothing dies! Pimp your DSDT and use latest Chameleon + FakeSMC. There is enough information on this forum to help you out.
