HacPro
Hi, I have been scouring the internet trying to wrap my head around the hardware differences between a Mac and PC. Here's what I think I know so far: Mac Proprietary parts: Motherboard/BIOS (EFI on Mac) Graphic Card - Same except flashed for integration w/ EFI? Power Supply? Other than this, all hardware can be purchased 3rd party? OK, so here's my question. To run Windows or Linux on a Mac, you can use the standard OS install disk, even though a Mac has EFI, and other (incompatible?) hardware, ieee. MOBO, Video Card, etc... Why is it so much more difficult to install OSX on a PC? When putting OSX on a PC, I understand the need for EFI to Bios converter software (is that what chameleon does?). I can understand how OSX only has drivers installed for it's hardware (thus the need for KEXTS)? From what I've read, OSX uses a partial EFI, so it differs from the Motherboards with EFI you can buy for PC? What (if any) are other differences that make it so complicated to get OSX running on a PC? Thanks for any info...
