Kernel panic

Hi.

 

I am unable to install Snow Leopard due to kernel panics caused by the IOATAFamily kernel extension. I have researched extensively and have come across countless fixes but none of them have worked. I have tried putting my working Leopard IOATAFamily.kext into my USB's 'Extensions' folder, and have tried many other variations (including a couple from these forums) but none have worked. I also tried the DSDT method posted by The King but that doesn't work either.

 

What seems strange is that I got it working using the 'Empire EFI' ATA extensions but now it doesn't seem to work anymore -- I didn't alter anything, so why is this happening? It booted fine and installed Snow Leopard; got it installed too. But now when I try to boot Snow Leopard the kernel panics occur again, and the installer kernel panics again too. Didn't alter the USB in any way so I don't know why this is happening...

 

It's becoming a very frustrating problem that I have been trying to fix for days. So can anyone help me this time?

 

Hardware:

- Intel 945GM chipset.

- ICH7 IDE controller. (8086:27df).

- ICH7 SATA IDE controller. (8086:27c4).

 

Am I right in putting the IOATAFamily kext inside the 'Extensions' folder on the USB? Maybe it's not loading the extension but instead using Snow Leopard's? When attempting to build a .mkext the program complains of permission errors but I have set them all the 755 and root:wheel.
