yakamasa
I have just installed my Leo Snow from originall DVD on TYAN S2696, Nvidia 8600GT 256. I'm running 10.6.1 because after trying to update to 10.6.2 I had to reinstall everything. The problem: Dock is not working at all - no magnification, no auto hide, no names appearing on icons - it feels like it's super slow downed And it's not responding Menus While using a mouse it should add blue background under it and following it open additional menus but you have to click to do anything. It also feels like its slowed down somehow. Apart from that rest works fine. Any ideas what it may be? yakamasa
hey, yakamasa I also try to buy this mobo s2696, is this running stable? What Snow leo installation method you use? First of all I'm not a geek so will try to explain that as easy as possible. The problem with this metod is you need Installed and working Leopard OS on your computer or you can use your friend's computer to do it. 1. I had Leopard installed on my hackintosh already it was 10.5.x. So I have used that to install Leo Snow on another hard drive !! 2. Prepare the other hard drive - maybe it could be other partition I don't know because I haven't tested it. 3. Use Disk Utility to erase it or as i did I have used the other partition which had data already on it - my own data nothing special. The only think I did was deleting all catalogues I don't know And don't need - i Know it sound crazy but logically because if you have films, music, pictures etc you don't need anything else. While installing new Leo Snow it will create what it needs without affecting data you already have on that drive. TIP if you fail with installation or it will not start you can easy and quickly reinstall it by deleting all system catalogues and data and start over again. 4. Use show all files option to see hidden files on leo snow install disc find Mac OS X Install DVD/System/Installation/Packages/OSInstall.mpkg 5. Install system as normal showing the other drive as a destination. 6. Don't restart yet ! 7. Install http://osx86.sojugarden.com/downloads/ myHack using settings u like and will work for u best - I know you have to test it if it boots, if it works - start from addons u need to have and don't install things you don't know. 8. Restart and change bios setting to start from the HD you have installed your Leo Snow to 9. Voila it should work. I know some of you guys might laugh a lot - I know but I have figure out this metod using 100 of diferent tutorials where u might find people doing things are sometimes not work or are not needed. Test and play with it that was my metod. Good luck ! Using this metod I was able to install working Leo snow up to 10.6.1 with all devices working. No crashes No problems All is working. Upgrade to 10.6.2 was a problem few mnths back - no sound from on board ALC888. So I have came back quickly to fresh new install of 10.6.0 and upgrade it to 10.6.1. All other upgrades are working. CKNY4ever
Hi, I just saw your post, actually I am using the same motherboard as you. However, every time when I tried to boot from Snow Leopard HDD, it gave me kernel panic. I just wander how do you set up the bios of your motherboard ? Would you please let me know thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/200453-dock-and-menus-problems-in-leo-snow-1061/#findComment-1636229 Share on other sites
