Hi, i am from Spain and sorry for my english could be no so perfect.

I want to share this experience with all of you because you help me a lot.

I don´t know if i was lucky or this is a correct way to install SL

I had a dual xeon machine running 10.5.6 and i want to upgrade to SL so start reading...

So i decided to buy a x58 mobo, X58-UD3R.

First i install 10.5.7 with the help of this guide:

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=172097

piece of cake, full system, upgradable, thanks badaxe2

Start SL

i found digital_dreamer guide:

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=185097

i had a ATI HD2600pro so give it a try but no success.

I blamed to graphic card and replaced with a EN8400GS (no fan) from ASUS that in the shop said it was "mac compatible" and in OSx86 database figured as full compatible.

Again no success.

Sure i did something wrong

I start looking for a simpler guide and i found two:

http://prasys.co.cc/2009/10/empire-efi/

this is based in a boot cd, worked fine in installation, full graphic (two screen and full res)and everything except sound but in the last step you run a program that "patch" the hard drive to boot from it and i lost my graphic (1024x768 one screen only) and cmos reset. But my Graphics card is compatible natively.

this use a usb stick to boot from and a hard drive is needed to restore the SL dvd. I did not have a usb stick available so i try to use a partition, but then i have problems with terminal instruction given by AsereBLN

And then is when i mixed everything:

I have one drive with the dvd restored as is described:

http://aserebln.blogspot.com/2009/10/5-106...all-dvd-to.html

Another one GUID partitioned in two, one of 4 Gb and another with the rest of it.

From my leopard i take the RUN-PATCH_INSTALLER from digitaldreamer guide and ejecute points

0- Select drive select the small 4gb (Chameleon i called)

1- type of install select Extra

2- Install boot loader select Cameleon 2.0 RC3

3- Set target partition as active

Follow AsereBLN guide about what to put in the boot drive or paste the content of mine if you hardware is similar (I use dsdt of x58-ud3r without modified and works)

I didn´t use again 10.5.7

Boot from Cameleon partition and follow the rest of AsereBLN guide

http://aserebln.blogspot.com/2009/10/8-106...l-mac-os-x.html

Beware with upgrade to 10.6.2 follow this:

http://aserebln.blogspot.com/2009/11/mac-o...062-is-out.html

And the final touch

http://aserebln.blogspot.com/2009/10/9-106-final-touch.html

Sound did not work but with Ketch helper and acl888 ketchs now it is

I have a system with full funcionality even time machine that was no worked on leopard.

If you dont want to see boot partition, open terminal and type:

chflags hidden /Volumes/"NameOfDrive"

Andi f you need it again

chflags nohidden /Volumes/"NameOfDrive"

If you want a full 64bits system and can run it follow this:

  • In Chameleon drive : /Extra/com.apple.Boot.plist
  • Open with TextEdit
  • Find <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string></string>
  • add “arch=x86_64” between strings this way:

<key>Kernel Flags</key> <string>arch=x86_64</string>

  • Save and reboot

As you see no complicated type or hacking and very straight forward.

But my question is:

Am I the luckiest one or make sense?

Again thanks to AsereBLN, digital_dreamer, Pradeesh, badaxe2 and all in hakintosh scene.

This is the content of my boot drive and some files like 888 ketch, ketch Helper,Digital_dreamer script and the new 10.6.2 SleepEnebler.ketch

I hope that someone try this and tell me how works with different hardware.
