TMBtD
I know there are a few topics on this motherboard, and someone managed to get it working by enabling XD in the BIOS... that only managed to get it out of the infinite reboot loop. Here are my specs: MSI P7N Platinum (MS-7380 v1.0) Core 2 Quad Q9550 @ 2.83 with EIST enabled (will try with it disabled and see what happens) EGA nVidia 9800GTX+ 1GB (stock spds) DDR2/PC-6400 8GB of RAM HP dvd1070 DVD-RW w/ Lightscribe Seagate 1.5 TB Drive SATA WD Caviar Black 640GB Drive SATA WD 320 GB Drive IDE, (where I want to install) Hauppauge WinTV HVR 1600 WinTV PVR PCI II HP Deskjet 3845 So I've tried installing with -v, -x, cpus=1, platform=ACPI and x86pc and all boot up fine, only after 10-15 secs im at: SAM Multimedia: READ or WRITE failed. SENSE_KEY = 0x05, ASC = 0x20, ASCQ= 0x00 5 of those with the same numbers, and 5 seconds later all my HDDs spin down, with everything still on screen, then I'm stuck at still waiting for root device. Heres an image with all the -v messages Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/199925-ideneb-v16-1058-lite-on-msi-p7n-platinum/ Share on other sites

TMBtD
Tried again, reburning at the slowest speed (like I did the first time) and tried on a LITE-ON DVD Drive (This time IDE).. Seems to have done something else, with the SAM Multimedia message only coming up twice, along with other junk relating to USB.. Here's a cap. BTW I've also tried all the kernels on the DVD, the default, mach_toh, anv, mach_970... Also switched to AHCI in the BIOS as I read on another post... AND switched all the BIOS settings to what verdant posted on the nVidia nForce topic HERE Oh Apple, stop with the greedyness Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/199925-ideneb-v16-1058-lite-on-msi-p7n-platinum/#findComment-1346264 Share on other sites
TMBtD
ANYONE? I've attempted the VMWare install using the mach_toh kernel, went through the install fine, then endless reboot. Tried rebooting natively and it freezes about 5 seconds in. Any ideas? Here's a -v screenshot Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/199925-ideneb-v16-1058-lite-on-msi-p7n-platinum/#findComment-1347972 Share on other sites
