iTuxer
Hi everybody! I managed to install iDeneb 10.5.8 Lite Edition on my HP Pavilion dv6-1280el but I have a small problem. The pc boots properly, but when i choose iDeneb in the bootloader menu it doesn't load the OS. If I choose iDeneb "normally", without specifying boot options,it goes in kernel panic and if I give boot options such as cpus=1 -x, -x,-v,-s and so on,it seems to start (it shows the loading wheel and the apple logo) but then I get a black screen, similar to the black screen you get when an OS is about to start. Could anybody help me please? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/199871-ideneb-doesnt-boot/ Share on other sites
Lord_Jeremy
That sounds like a graphics driver problem. What graphics support did you install along with iDeneb? My personal recommendation is that unless you know a particular combination of kexts is going to work, just install the bare minimum so you know the system can boot and then slowly add things afterwards. Also, try booting with just cpus=1 to see if it's a kernel issue. Then try just -x to see if it's a kext problem. I'm not familiar with the hardware in that particular system, perhaps you could list your major hardware components. iTuxer
Since I have an ATI HD 4650 graphics card,I installed the ATI drivers..there was only one to choose,so I took that one.. RyRy
Yea I got a bit of a boot problem myself. Now I have had it running on 10.5.6 Ideneb on my system and then when I tried upgrading it while back and it didn't work and I didn't both fixing it until recently. I'v recently installed 10.5.7 after installing it say it installed successfully and when I rebooted the computer and loaded up the harddrive and just booted directly into my window system, I did unplug my sata drive to see what happens and it basicly comes up with the boot error message when you don't have a system installed at all. According to MacDrive on windows all the files are there. So I'm a little puzzled why it isn't booting up. Lord_Jeremy
@RyRy in the future please start a new topic. I think you need to go into your BIOS and add your Mac OS X drive to the boot order. @iTuxer: Unfortunately, you generally don't want to install drivers unless you know your hardware works with them. (I learned that lesson that hard way). I would recommend a reinstall without any specific graphics drivers to see what happens. You should be able to boot without hardware acceleration and stuck in the resolution 1024x768. Then head over to http://netkas.org/ and find the ATI Radeon enablers he has floating around somewhere. Oh I just found this, but it requires Snow Leopard. There may be other graphics support options elsewhere, but you may want to reevaluate your OS choice.
