EVANDEC
I am trying to install Mac OS X. I have created an unformatted partition and have downloaded and burnt an ISO image of the install CD. When I go to install the OS it goes through the grey screen with the apple logo and then goes to a blue screen where nothing happens. Whats going on? Boiling Ice
on one will be able to help you like this.... please provide details of your hardware, MacOS version and any other info that might be usefull. I would also recommend that you start the boot with '-v' option, that might tell you exactly what error you are facing Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/19986-install-goes-to-blue-screen-and-does-nothing/#findComment-131457 Share on other sites
EVANDEC
Toshiba Laptop intel celeron mbile I started with the -v option and with the -x option. Nothing that seems unusual. After doing a few searchers I saw that this is a common problem with laptops. I am install version 1.4.4, are there any other versions that avoid this blue screen problem? U.C.
DO this: 1) Boot into Windows -> Run 2) Type CMD 3) Type 'diskpart' 4) Type 'select disk 0' 5) Type 'create partition primary id=af' Now Give it a go. It might work. Also give 10.4.3/VMware method a try Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/19986-install-goes-to-blue-screen-and-does-nothing/#findComment-132074 Share on other sites
EVANDEC
I am actually doing this in Linux. Is there something comparable I can do that way? What is the rational or goal of those actions? Rammjet
The goal is to create a primary (not logical) partition. Label it with ID=AF and set it to "active".
