catburlow
Hi everybody, I was anger to try to install the fantastic macosx on my pc. I have sse2 compatible procesor and follow the instructions of falhstad (falhstad.se/2005/10/15/maco-os-x-tiger-on-x86). I think I understood everything and do it correctly. I had two disks, one with Windows and another onbe with mac os x (dual boot). But when mac os x starts (the big apple screen appears!!!) it just hangs on. Doing a start up with verbose and safe boot (-v -x) it seems I have a problem with my graphic card. It says :"display: family specific matching fails" and also "rtc: invalid device register map" (sorry I don't know what is RTC). Impossible to start up even in safe mode (it just hangs on). Do anyone now what happens and give me some tip? I will really want to see not only the apple screen but the blue screen and after the whole macosx screen to enjoy mac on pc. Any tip is welcome...... I can give any further information required. Thanks. Catherine. gwprod12
the "display: family specific matching fails" is normal, and most everyone receives it. About the RTC, I dont know. Do you get any other errors? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/19971-problem-starting-up-macosx-on-pc/#findComment-131309 Share on other sites

diegooo
you should try to boot with -s -v and then go in the system/library/extensions and move all ATI* to another dir. just to boot without driver and then try to find a solution. smallgreen
Hi diegooo, It tells me the file system is read only when I try to make a new directory. I thought I could do it if im root. Do I need to do something to write enable the disk? dublea
Ok, I got the Jas 10.4.7 image and was able to get into install, partition an existing HD that I have set as primary. It installed without a hitch, rebooted and I get all text when booting, without even using -v command. Here are just some of the error's I'm getting... (the (Time&Date) just is the time and date I get these messages) (Time&Date) kextd[30]: kld_load_from_memory() failed for module /System/Library/Extensions/NVDAResman.kext/Contents/MacOS/NVDAResman (Time&Date) kextd[30]: a link/load error occured for kernel extension /System/Library/Extentions/NVDANV40Hal.kext (Time&Date) kextd[33]: kld_load_from_memory() failed for module /System/Library/Extensions/IOPlatformPlugin.kext/Contents/PlugIn/ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin.kext/Contents/MacOS/ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin (Time&Date) kextd[33]: a link/load error occured for kernel extension /System/Library/Extensions/IOPlatformFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIn/ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin.kext (Time&Date) kextd[40]: kld_load_form_memory() failed for module /System/Library/Extentions/NVDAResman.kext/Contents/MacOS/NVDAResman (Time&Date) kextd[40]: a link/load error occured for kernel extension /System/Library/Extentions/GeForce.kext Language Chooser seems to have failed; defaulting to English localhost mDNSResponder-108 (Dec 25 2005 11: 57:53)[46]: Starting localhost diskarbitrationd[52]: Unable to mount /dev/disk0s1 (status code 0x00000047) localhost DirectoryService[61]: Launch versoin 2.1 (v353.2) localhost mDNSResponder: Couldn't read user-specified ComputerName; using default bMacintosh-000000000000b instead localhost mDNSResponder: Couldn't read user-specified local hostname; using default bMacintosh-000000000000.localb instead localhost mDNSResponder: adding browse doman local localhost mDNSResponder: Couldn't read user-specified ComputerName; using default bMacintosh-000000000000b instead localhost mDNSResponder: Couldn't read user-specified local hostname; using default bMacintosh-000000000000.localb instead localhost /System/Library/CoreServices/Loginwindow.app/Contents/MacOS/loginwindow: Login Window Application Started After that, it freezes and does nothing. I can even get the grey screen that shows the Mac logo and spining wheel. It will only go to this. These messages are the only ones I can see that look like errors. dublea
Found out it was my install... I wasn't selecting the appropriate things... I forgot about the arrow to select down... now I can boot... I just have problems with sound, SATA, wireless... I'm going to gather the errors asap and see if I can patch them. Rammjet
Exacttly the same problem here. Did you found a solution? What computer hardware do you have? What version of OSX did you install? What packages did you select in the Customize window of the installer? What errors do you get? What happens when you start up in verbose mode (-v)? Give us something to work with if you want help. Installed 10.4.8 using my own guide: http://www.profit42.com/index.php/2006/10/...ndows-computer/ I'm running a Sony VAIO, Intel P4 3.4 Ghz with HT. All previous versions worked. When I boot in verbose mode everything loads until it hangs at "login window application started". If I boot normal or with -x flag the spinwheel stop spinning after a while and the mouse cursor show up. I can move the mouse, it the screens stays the same (grey apple screen, hanging spinwheel, moving mouse curor) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/19971-problem-starting-up-macosx-on-pc/#findComment-199571 Share on other sites
