ainsleyclark
Hi there, I have made a list of what I feel is suitable and compatible components for my new build, but if you guys wouldn't mind checking over the list and giving some feedback it would be great. CPU: Intel CPU Core 2 Quad Q9400 Quad Core 2.66GHz 1333FSB LGA7756MB cache Motherboard: GIGABYTE TECHNOLOGY GA-EP45-UD3P INTEL P45 + ICH10R CHIPSET Graphics: PNY GeForce 7300 GS PCI-E 256MB Verto Graphics Card RAM: 3x ELIXIR memory 2GB DDR2 800 PC6400 RAM Hard Drives: Seagate 500GB hard disk drive Barracuda SATA II 300 7200rpm 16MB cache oem DVD Drive: Sony 24X DVD+R/RW/DL AD-7240S-0B SATA +24x8x12x -24x6x12x Bulk Black Drive (OEM) PSU: ThermalTake PSU TR2 500W Black Silent + ATX 12V 2.0 PSU 20pin +4pin SATA ready According to the HCL this seems ok, but I was debating whether or not the graphics card would run at full screen res at its a fairly old card! I am planning to install via Boot 132 disc and Retail Leopard 10.5.6. Im also planning to dual boot Vista 64bit with Chameleon Rc2 If someone could give me and feedback or advice, I would really appreciate it. pdave54
Not advice on your mobo. But hey why don't you go Snow, it faster & less bloated and so far (for me) rock solid Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/199690-hackintosh-component-list-please-review/#findComment-1343596 Share on other sites
TomCom
The EP45-UD3P works great, and so does a Quad, but if I were you, I'd go for a P55 motherboard and a Core i5 750. It's got better "bang for the buck" right now, and it's future-proof for 2 or 3 years. And be aware that you'd lose dual channel using 3x2GB on a Px5 chipset. If you really need 6GB of DDR2, just do like me: 2x2+2x1 on all four slots. ainsleyclark
Not advice on your mobo. But hey why don't you go Snow, it faster & less bloated and so far (for me) rock solid I would but I will be using music software mainly and from what I have been told/read, there are still a few teething problems so I will stick with Leopard and upgrade within the next year when everything gets ironed out.
