Hi,

Wanting to know what I should do about an install on this computer.

Specs - Dell 4600c slim P4 2.8, 512mb (can be 1gig) Nvidia6200. I am installing onto an external HD via usb

I have successfully install IPC 10.5.6 - but it runs very poorly. I have found few if anyone willing to help with this install, so I am looking at doing a retail 10.6 install from a USB stick.

Can you recommend a REALLY easy tutorial for this?

Anyone willing to help?

Is there a Leopard custom CD install that would work well with this?

Just want a stable working machine. I really dont care if I run Leopard or Snow. I am not going to be tinkering with it a lot.

Any HELPFUL suggestions welcome.

thanks

Bikerbob

I noticed your user name on some other threads that I was looking to get advice on.

Specific is the iatkos v7 install you did. I am now trying that ... and it boots to the point where is says installing extentions kexts and then gives an error in boot and reboots the machine in 5sec.

Do you think I have issues starting iatkos with 512mb as well??

Its not going to work, you need 1 gig minimum (i would say 2 gig minimum)

when you have that here is a guide you should be able to follow

Yes I would say (personal opinion) that 2 gig minimum for a good leopard install, I think apple say 1 gig (it will be on the apple site)

I did an install on a real mac (ppc) with 3/4 gig & it was like treakle

Don't quote me but I think there is a 2 gig(might be 4) max to install leopard

Actually I have never done an iatkos install, I may have tried to help somebody with one
