xomp
So I have my new Gigabyte P55-UD3R and Intel i7 CPU and Gigabyte 9800 GT 512MB system built. Looking to get Snow Leopard installed but do not have a ready to use Hackintosh anywhere that I can use to build up the installation. I do however have the Retail Snow Leopard installation disk restored to an external USB HDD that I can boot too (but won't install) and have access to atleast READ HFS+ in Windows 7 via the bootcamp Snow drivers. Is there anyway via Linux or something to add the kexts that are needed and fix permissions and such for this USB HDD I have Snow Leopard's installation disc restored too? Or am I just SOL? Cheers for any input! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/199530-installing-snow-leopard-with-no-spare-hackintosh/ Share on other sites
apple_core
This link may help you out: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=197319# The poster links a boot cd that should work for your mobo. Once booted from that boot-cd you can then "boot" the SL DVD, then instead of doing the installation of SL you choose "Disk Utility" (I believe) from the menu bar at which point you can format your hard drive, etc., and then you should be able to continue on with the installation. (Some people advise on not loading any printer drivers or extra languages during that phase of the installation -- you can add the printer drivers back in later).
