mc101
For months since running 10.5.6 I been having a horrible experience with timeouts but I stumbled across what the problem was on my own, so maybe I can save someone the headaches.. Motherboard: Asus p5n-e SLI memory: 4 gigs router: linksys wrt54g wireless card: linksys wmp54g ver 2 Basically in my router settings I always had a domain-name and a host-name (windows) but what I noticed when I removed them from my router (wrt54g) settings is my airport (wmp54g) never timed out again. Before the fix I would be able to get about 30mins of internet before a timeout would occur, so far I've been connected for two days now. REMOVE / leave blank: (DOMAIN-NAME) & (HOST-NAME) FROM ROUTER SETTINGS! I also have my security set to wpa personal feels so good to have this working finally! mc101
sup fellas I'm sorry to report that the above fix was not the problem shortly after the post, it started again and progressively got worse. I finally stopped the airport timeouts and now all my kernel panics stopped also ;-) whooooo , the machine feels like it's processing much much faster and reliable than ever... here is what i did this time... in bios, go to the IrQ setting and change the option to "auto" next option does not have "auto" just pick a irq listed then change the option under that to bi-directional (just below) and restart. EX: AUTO 3BE-012 BI-DIRECTIONAL no glitches or panics --- smooth and solid~ Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/198795-linksys-wrt54g-wmp54g-timeout-fix/#findComment-1344650 Share on other sites
