harmc0re
Finally got it working! Tried many different solutions. This is the one that worked for me. Used the 9.5.0 Kernel Added Intel Speedstep driver and throttle Changed to ACHI in BIOS and sat the partition as first priority. Now it boots up fine almost every time. Thanks for a great guide, and the help so far :] Edit: Only problem now is that I have to change between ACHI and IDE when I switch between OSX and W7. Edit2: Installed ACHI drivers in Windows 7, so now I don't have to change anything in BIOS. Only thing left now is to make the Chameleon boot loader actually boot Windows. Getting an error. Guess it has something to do with windows being on another hard drive then OSX ? Hey that's great! Nicely done! So do you still have kernel panics when booting? aHille
I manage to boot 3 out of 4 times now. Sometimes I get a "panic (cpu 1...." And other times it freezes, but most of the times it boots up fine. I even tried to install it on my stationary PC last night. And it works even better then on my laptop. Haven't gotten any kernel panics yet. Booted 12-13 times, and it boots up fine every time. tinusz
Hi, That's strange, can't you turn your laptop off, and boot into windows again? Or is this the first thing you see when booting your laptop? hi, I made a little mistake, by not making the partition active and primary (stupid) this is what I did to make it work (typing from my mac now ) at first, I installed mac os x with your guide, onto one partition then I partitioned my hard drive and installed Win 7 on another partition, now only windows 7 was bootable. I downloaded easyBCD can't remember the link, just google it, added a mac os x entry, and at the disk manager from windows I assigned a letter to the 100 or 200 mb partition windows 7 automatically creates, now I could boot both, but mac without internet. downloaded the broadcom driver for ethernet, but couldn't get it to work (maybe a little help? It says that I need to fix the security settings :S) so I dit the PDAnet thing. now I have 2 os'es both with internet. finally downloaded the acer aspire 7738 drivers for win7 and done thank you very much for this guide, and I hope this long comment helps other people who are stuck edit: did you already install snow leopard? I'm going to try soon, wish me luck

I'm going to try soon, wish me luck Ah. Active and primary. That's something I forgot to mention. I didn't have to do that in my case. ... and at the disk manager from windows I assigned a letter to the 100 or 200 mb partition windows 7 automatically creates... Huh? What partition is that? Is it a dynamic partition (in a green square). I can't see why that partition would be involved with your Mac OS X installation. You're not the only one who has problems with the ethernet driver. I thought it was well enough declared in the enclosed guide. Perhaps I should have a look to clarify it in my guide... ... downloaded the broadcom driver for ethernet, but couldn't get it to work (maybe a little help? It says that I need to fix the security settings :S)... What says you need to fix the security settings? Does Leopard say that? Could you show me a screenshot of the error? I still haven't tried Snow Leopard yet I'll try that in three weeks or so. Good luck on your quest for the Snow Leopard! And thanks for sharing your experience with the guide! harmc0re
I got the iDeneb v1.6 10.5.8 to work but the only problem now is that i can only boot in safe mode. this is what i get when i boot without -x Error Hmm that's strange. I'm not a hackintosh-einstein, but here's my opinion: It's not an error you get, as my laptop goes through those steps, too. I believe the bootloader checks your partitions and freezes. It has something to do with your partitions, or the thing that comes right after the partition checking. If you boot in safe mode, the bootloader doesn't do the thing that makes your laptop freeze now. I suggest two things, 1) Checking to the guide you used and see if you did everything like it says. 2) Reinstalling. May I also ask you why you asked your question here, and not at the guide you used itself?

In the first video, you have a kernel panic. I have mentioned this in the guide. You need to hold the power button to shutdown your laptop and retry to boot. It should work after a couple of attempts and some patience. For the strange effect you have in the second video, you need to install a different nvidia driver, since we have different video cards. Like I said to an other guy: There's a nVidia GT 200 driver for the GT 200 series graphics cardsincluded on the iAtkos install DVD. You should try that. You can install this driver without reinstalling, just boot from the DVD, pick your already existing Mac partition, and check only the nVidia GT 200 driver. Uncheck everything else. Uncheck the iAtkos v7 Main System. Uncheck the Post-Install Actions.
BoyMZee
I get past the apple logo with the spinning wheel but then get stuck at the rotating cursor with a gray screen. The cursor keeps rotating and nothing happens. Same specs, same hardware. I've tried at least six different versions of iDeneb, including iDeneb v1.6 10.5.8. Did you ever get OSX to run on this box without safe mode? I haven't event achieved safe mode. Can you list which options (customizations) you selected for the install? (I'm a newbie.)

harmc0re
G Hi, gibts inzwischen schon ne Möglichkeit Snow Leopard auf dem 7738G laufen zu lassen? Hi, No, I have been busy with Snow Leopard, so far sound works, ethernet and full 1600x900 resolution, but no keyboard, no wifi, no Core Image nor Quartz Extreme,... So I still have a long way to go, and no time either. Perhaps someone else should make a Snow Leopard guide. There must be more people out there using Acer Aspire 7738G. And please, type English in the future, I won't reply to German posts again.

tinytinus
Hello everyone! I made a new account, because i couldn't log in to my old one (and i don't see the post of it either..) his name was tinuszz, but anyway.. I am typing this from my acer aspire 7738, with snow leopard 10.6.3 on it. i used a retail installation with the help of hackintosh india. (google them ) the install was very easy, just took some time, and the dsdt patch was not so easy, but if anyone of you acer aspire 7738(g) users want snow leopard, and upgradeable(!) that's how i did it. pro's: trackpad works, wifi works via PDAnet (be sure to boot in 32bit mode when using ipod/iphone) built in keyboard works upgradeable cons i don't know how to get ethernet working wifi (obviously) and my sound isn't working yet, which i find very strange, maybe someone can help me with that. the install was definately worth it, and for those of you wondering, you don't need a 8gb thumb drive or something xd tinytinus
