Hi,

I noticed when using the time machine for the first time in SL that when the desktop animation pulls down, it was quite choppy (as was moving between time windows). I also noticed that if I right clicked in the sidebar pane of a finder window and selected preferences, the little animation of the window changing height up and down to suit its contained dialogue was also choppy. Now, every other window I have tested (say system preferences for example) is smooth as silk when it changes its own window size - and before we go any further, I have perfect ripples in dashboard, and smooth user switching (theoretically confirming QE/CI working).

Either DSDT method or EFI string method gives the same results. My previous kalyway 10.5.4 setup had no such peculiar slow graphics in portions of the OS. How does one begin searching for a solution on something so, well, almost petty? Driving me nuts though, from a diagnostic perspective.

I have googled for video diagnostics and benchmarks.. I see only programs giving a score. I want to confirm via plain english that QE/CI is working, ala 10.5 system profiler. Any recommendations?

Details of rig in signature..

Thanks for any tips in advance, I'm certainly not afraid to try anything.

Have read up on and tried Netkas' ATY_Init.kext as well now.... System profiler shows that it loaded (rom version: Netkas) but no difference - every so often I find a window gui sluggish on screen.. I temporarily renamed my graphics patched DSDT.aml file so it didn't load - assuming this is the correct way to get kext's loading the old style way.....

Desperate for ideas to try now.... anyone?
