Hi,

I don't know if I will get any replies but its worth a try.

I have recently successfully patched and installed Mac OSX 10.6.2 Snow Leopard onto my Dell Inspiron 530 Hackintosh. My problem is that I cannot get my Geforce 8600GTS 512MB graphics card fully working on Snow Leopard. I have two displays connected to my Hackintosh but only one works and the only resolution I can get it at is 1028x768.

When I go into "About this Mac" and "More Info" and select Graphics/Display it tells me that my 8600GTS card is only 32MB and the maximum resolution is 1028x768 :)

I have tried putting the correct ID string into the info.plist in the Geforce.kext and install NVinject.kext then repair permissions but I still get the same problem :)

What am I doing wrong. Any help please?

Ok I think I have fixed it. I had to open the com.apple.Boot.plist and copy this into com.apple.Boot.plist...

<dict>

<key>Kernel</key>

<string>mach_kernel</string>

<key>Kernel Flags</key>

<string></string>

<key>EthernetBuiltIn</key>

<string>y</string>

<key>GraphicsEnabler</key>

<string>y</string>

</dict>

</plist>

Now I rebooted which enabled Chameleon rc2 to enable the graphics card through verbose boot.

Success!! My Geforce 8600GTS now works on both displays. :D

Now to get the resolution working I had to download the SL64 kexts which are available on this form.

Success again! I now have a resolution above 1024x728 :)

Unfortunately Snow Leopard doesn't allow to to see if you have QI and CE enabled. For that you have to open the application called chess and if you can move the pieces on the board then QI and CE work.

Thats all

Hi,

i´ve got my gts 8600, 256mb working by using EFI-Studio, generating a EFI String.

before applying the EFI String, the Display was stuttering and slow

you can test the full functionality with cl-info:
