Christian Pursell
I am a long time Mac (and PC) user and am wanting to get a new PC tower for gaming, but also want to run OSX on it. This will be my first hackintosh, and I believe the first step is compatible hardware! My question to all of you is will the following configuration work?: CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-960 3.20 GHz 8M L3 Cache LGA1366 HDD: Single Hard Drive (1TB (1TBx1) SATA-II 3.0Gb/s 16MB Cache 7200RPM HDD) MOTHERBOARD: GIGABYTE X58 GA-EX58-UD3R 2 WAY CROSSFIRE/SLI DDR3 MEMORY: 6GB (2GBx3) PC1333 DDR3 PC3 10666 Triple Channel Memory (Corsair or Major Brand) SOUND: HIGH DEFINITION ON-BOARD 7.1 AUDIO VIDEO: NVIDIA GeForce GTX275 1792MB 16X PCIe Video Card (EVGA Powered by NVIDIA) I would be purchasing this setup from Cyberpowerpc.com. It seems like a great setup, I just want to know whether all the components are hackintoshable with Snow Leopard. Thanks for your help! (FYI I have also posted this in the Discuss and Learn > Mods forum.) Mushishi
Looks ok but i think you can get it cheaper by building it yourself... And honest i would not pay the almost 2 times as much for the 960 over the 920.. you will not notice the 600 Mhz and if you feel you might miss them then just overclock the 920... i am using mine as a small oc from the 2.66 til 3.6 Ghz and i know i can go over 4GHz on my 920 if i want... I just cant see the extra prive on the 960 as a good buy... The reason why I'm getting this computer from Cyberpower is because I want their three year warranty and lifetime phone support, if something goes wrong. Perhaps my next computer in 5 years I'll build myself . I was pretty sure the graphics card and CPU were compatible, the last thing I need to know before I press "Place Order" is whether my motherboard is hackintoshable and if any of you recommend it! Christian Pursell
Would the EVGA X58 3X SLI LE Intel X58 Chipset SLI/CrossFireX Mainboard Triple-Channel DDR3/1600 SATA RAID w/ GbLAN,USB2.0,Dual IEEE1394&7.1Audio Be a better motherboard choice? Or this one? Asus P6T SE Intel X58 I'm sure they're all great motherboards, I just want the one that will work on OSX the easiest.
