Jimmy422
Recently my boss got a G5 at work off of eBay, and he had me install a hard drive into it and install OSX. Once it got up and running I was in love. I haven't used Mac OS for about 5 years and I forgot how awesome it was. A G5 on eBay is pretty expensive, and the cheap ones are usually really broke. So a hackintosh is the logical answer, right? Sure. Anyways, I can't really find a guide to match my system. I have an AMD processor which makes it a little harder apparently, and the only Intel machine I have is a really old Celeron on an 82845G chipset. Here are my full specs on my AMD machine: AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ 3GHZ SSE2/SSE3 ECS nForce 9M motherboard ATI Radeon HD 4870 1GB SoundBlaster Live! 24-bit internal sound card I can't find any info on the sound card, mainly. The chipset on the motherboard is the nForce 710a. See post below with more info. Jimmy422
I acquired iDeneb and booted from CD with -v. It worked just fine and the only thing I could see close to an error was about not being able to enumerate a USB device. Dunno what that was, because when it got to the "Pick a language" screen my mouse and keyboard worked just fine. I still have some questions. What do I need to do to get my Radeon 4870 to work in OSX? And the sound card? Ethernet? I found .kexts that supposedly work for both of them, but I can't be sure.
