veikkonyfors
Updgraded 10.3.9 -> 10.4.7. Chec kPoint's SecureClient did not start up anymore. On 10.3.9 there was a circumvention patch which had to be applied to get it working there. Now with 10.4.7. that patched version did not come up any more. Searched the network and found several hits stating that SecureClient R56 had stopped working after upgrade to tiger, including this thread. Searched the web and cound Checkpoint had released a tiger compatible version of SecureClient, at http://www.checkpoint.com/downloads/quickl...wnloads_sr.html. Tried to install it. I first had to remove the old version by removing the /opt/CPsrsc-50 directory though, as the installation wizard complained about it.After this installation went through very quickly. Restarted the system as told. After restart SecureClient did not come up. No /opt/CPsrsc-50 had been created! Did it a couple of time more, with the same result. Found out that after the install wizard, but before the restart there was a file /tmp/SecureClientInstaller/desktop_B612000026_1.tgz created. There was also a script named postinstall at the SecureClient_B612000026_1.pkg/Contents/Resources. Took /tmp/SecureClientInstaller/desktop_B612000026_1.tgz to a safe place and restarted. The /tmp/SecureClientInstaller/desktop_B612000026_1.tgz was gone of course. Copied it back there from the safe place. And run the postinstall as root. That did it! After restart SecureClient was up and running. Configured it with my site information and works ok. veikkonyfors
BTW, my problem above wasn't due to the OSX version being bad. About that one: SecureClient_B612000026_1.pkg/Contents/Resources/InstallationCheck scripts checks MAJOR and MINOR versions being 8 and greater than 5 respectively. I assume this means 10.4.6 at least. Patching the installcheck script would let the install script to go on. But assumably the test is for a reason, might not work in the end anyway. Why not upgrade to 10.4.7, the package is available on the OSX pages. After upgrade, you might experience something similar what I did, as explained on the above post. For that problem I never found out the original reason. I do have quite a lot of extra stuff cumulated on my system during last 3 years or so, could be something to do with those.
