czeslaw
Hi everyone, i hope this guide is useful to you, excuse me for my poor English, in this guide attempt to describe all the steps that follow to install Snow Leopard 10.6.6 from the beginning, a lot of thanks to netkas, MACinized, DiaboliK, and stell's for his terrific work!!!!!! Thanks. Update Before start be good to check these screenshots if your bios is with all the settings. Thanks to Spider for the screenshots!!!! http://www.megaupload.com/?d=47SSD3QF ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 10.6.0 If you have not been install Snow Leopard in the Intel DG31PR this guide work for me. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=183751 I follow all the step's in the guide and the single detail is, because I have a panic kernel, I had to DISABLE the "AUTOMATIC MODE" and put in the "MANUAL MODE" in the BIOS--ADVANCED--DRIVE CONFIGURATION this option disables the optical drive because mi drive is ATA and i have 3 hard disk SATA, but i hope in your case your optical drive and ATA still working and not have problems. Uptdate: The problem with the ATA is the IOATAFamily.kext, not the configuration with the BIOS. so you can use the "AUTOMATIC MODE" again. The solution: 1. I Don't believed, but it works, Put the CD/DVD... RW.. In MASTER MODE and hard disk in slave mode, and if you have a 80-ATA cable perfect. 2. For 10.6.0 to 10.6.2 is replace the file "IOATAFamily.kext" in the "/System/Library/Extensions" and rebuild "Extensions.mkext" in the folder "/Extra" (remeber use the file "4_Updater" and put the .kext in the folder KEXTs of folder MacLoader_SL_0.4 to generate the new .mkext) with the file in the following link, repair Permissions and ready. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=186609 A lot of thank's to sigmaris for his work!!!!!!. 2a.For 10.6.3 is solved with patch, remember put the CD/DVD... RW.. In MASTER MODE and hard disk in slave mode. For the GeForce 9800GT [POV] i have to add the string of "Device ID:" and "Revision ID: " of MY CARD in the "IOPCIPrimaryMatch" of the "inflo.plist" file, in the extension's "NVDANV50Hal.kext" and "NVDAResman.kext" repair permissions, restart, and install the "NVkushInstaller.pkg" http://diabolik1605.com/DHF/ if all goes well you will have at least one desent resolution and Snow Leopard. Uptdate: This method is not good, nvkush.kext (DIABOLIK) only works for 32 bit, is the easiest but not the best solution if you want to upgrade to 10.6.3 you will have problems with video. For some reason if you ADD "Natit.kext" or "GeforcexxxxDriver.kext" or other to make work the video card from the beginning of the installation and have any driver external at Apple, the DIABOLIK driver not work. The best solution for now: (Add EFI String) EFI String is a very long continuous string of hexadecimal code that was generated prior to any application like gfxutil, (do not worry about editing, a very simple template parameters and the program converts it to hexadecimal code) and explain has parameters as size, number of connectors, the type of connectors etc ... this chain is added in the file "com.apple.Boot.plist" and is located in "Library / Preferences / SystemConfiguration" once located the file, open it and add as follows <key>device-properties</key> <string>HEX code here. NUMBERS ONLY VERY VERY LONG</string> Unfortunately for each model of nvidia, brand and features like memory requires a special string, so it will have to generate its own chain, to be honest I copy from my previous installation of Leopard 10.5 and it worked perfectly, if you do not have it There is this tutorial that explains how to do it. http://forum.netkas.org/index.php?topic=222.0 And There is also the program to do it automatically but unfortunately my model was not on the list. http://www.mediafire.com/?xl19omzld9j Here I put the example of my "com.apple.Boot.plist" for Nvidia GeForce 9800GTX 512MB Brand :Point of View 1HDMI, 1VGA, 1DVI, Vendor: NVIDIA (0x10de) Device ID: 0x0614 <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple Computer//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>Kernel</key> <string>mach_kernel</string> <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string></string> <key>device-properties</key> <string>d20300000100000001000000c60300001500000002010c00d041030a000000000101060000010 101060000007fff040014000000400032002c006e0061006d00650000001100000073656e736f722 d 706172656e74220000005600520041004d002c0074006f00740061006c00730069007a0065000000 0 80000000000002036000000400032002c00680077006300740072006c002d0070006100720061006 d 0073002d00760065007200730069006f006e00000008000000000000021c00000064006500760069 0 0630065005f0074007900700065000000100000004e5644412c4765466f7263650e0000006e00610 0 6d00650000000f0000004e5644412c506172656e7422000000400030002c00640065007600690063 0 065005f00740079007000650000000b000000646973706c6179100000006d006f00640065006c000 0 001f0000004e5649444941204765466f7263652039383030204754582044444c2200000040003100 2 c006400650076006900630065005f00740079007000650000000b000000646973706c61791200000 0 400032002c007200650067000000080000000000000222000000400032002c006400650076006900 6 30065005f0074007900700065000000120000004e5644412c6770752d64696f64652000000040003 2 002c0063006f006d00700061007400690062006c0065000000160000004e5644412c73656e736f72 2 d706172656e7422000000400032002c002300730069007a0065002d00630065006c006c007300000 0 080000000000000020000000400031002c0063006f006d00700061007400690062006c0065000000 0 e0000004e5644412c4e564d616314000000400030002c006e0061006d0065000000120000004e564 4 412c446973706c61792d413a000000400032002c0068007700730065006e0073006f0072002d0070 0 06100720061006d0073002d00760065007200730069006f006e00000008000000000000022600000 0 400032002c0023006100640072006500730073002d00630065006c006c0073000000080000000000 0 00114000000400031002c006e0061006d0065000000120000004e5644412c446973706c61792d422 0 000000400030002c0063006f006d00700061007400690062006c00650000000e0000004e5644412c 4 e564d61631e00000072006f006d002d007200650076006900730069006f006e00000009000000333 1 373261100000004e00560043004100500000001800000004000000000003000c0000000000000700 0 000000e0000004e00560050004d00000020000000010000000000000000000000000000000000000 0 0000000000000000</string> </dict> </plist> I had serious problems because the video was not constant and put everything in blue etc etc was solved by adding the kext "Disabler.kext" on the "kexts" Folder in the "MacLoader_SL_0.4" Snow Leopard and installing again http://stellarola.tumblr.com/post/165429070/prepare-yourself ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 10.6.1 As I read in many forums there is no problem if you install the update directly from apple, The Force will be with you. http://support.apple.com/kb/DL930 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 10.6.2 After many attempts I succeed, I hope you too will work, try knowing that it is NOT 100% SAFE and if something goes wrong you may have solved, in my case i have to re-install several times Snow Leopard. because I'm beginner. [METHOD THAT WORKS] 1. Download and install Lifehacker 10.6.2+ Update UD3P v3 from: http://stellarola.tumblr.com/post/23846198...-update-ud3p-v3 2. Replace the file "DSDT.aml" in the folder called "Extra" located in the root, with your own file created for that LogicBoard. if you NOT KNOW how to create your own "DSDT.aml" follow the step's 1,2,3,4,5,6 from the guide http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=183751 3. Install the "COMBO UPDATE 10.6.2" http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/appl...pdatecombo.html 4. reboot If all goes well, you have Snow Leopard 10.6.2 and in some cases you will have to reinstall the drivers and done, if not well The Force & InsanelyMac will be with you. IN THE CASE NOT WORKING If you have experience, may serve to guide you http://netkas.org/?p=315 So, GOOD LUCK. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 10.6.3 If you use NvKush (DIABOLIK) read more red text above 10.6.0 This is the method outlined for those with more experience http://netkas.org/?p=382 1.Remove the file "Extensions.mkext" in the folder "Extra" on your hard drive. ("NAME OF YOUR HARD DRIVE/EXTRA") 2.We will use the folder MacLoader_SL_0.4 remember???, If not in 10.6.0 go to the link to download the folder again, within this folder is the "kexts" here are the kext's are normally used for the DG31PR and Nvidia will be used recommend to update the kext's from the folder from this link http://stellarola.tumblr.com/post/165429070/prepare-yourself Disabler.kext fakesmc.kext NullCPUPowerManagement.kext OpenHaltRestart.kext PlatformUUID.kext UUID.kext 3. Remove the file "SleepEnabler.kext" of folder "MacLoader_SL_0.4/KEXTs" 4. Double click on file "4_Updater" of folder "MacLoader_SL_0.4" This should create a NEW FILE "Extensions.mkext" in the folder "Extra" on your hard drive Take a look in the folder Extra, I had 2 times that do, not upgrade and do not restart until you see that file again 5. Install the combo update from apple. http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1018 6. Restart, if there is a kernel panic, fails to create the new "Extensions.mkext" without SleepEnabler.kext file, if all goes well and no video, the problem is the method to work your graphics card. in the blog are some problems with ATI cards http://netkas.org/?p=382 May the force be with you. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 10.6.4 if you followed this guide from the beginning. 1. Back up the folder "Extensions" if you need any after update. 2. Click on the Software Update and Enjoy. May the force be with you. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 10.6.5 if you followed this guide from the beginning. just go! download the 10.6.5 combo update install, and enjoy the new performance. http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1324 Have Fun! :pirate2: Update To gain a little performance, use this app to generate a new DSDT.aml 1. Back up the DSDT.aml on safe place. 2. Download the app from here http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=235523 Thanks a lot to Mald0n!!!!! 3. In the app select intel and dg31pr, click apply and you get you new DSDT.aml in the desktop. 4. Replace the old DSDT.aml in the /EXTRA folder, restart and 5. Enjoy!!!! if something goes wrong replace the DSDT.old with you back up and as if nothing had happened So, GOOD LUCK. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 10.6.6 if you followed this guide from the beginning. 1. Back up the folder "Extensions" if you need any after update. 2. Download, and install http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1343 3. Enjoy App Store for Mac!!!!! curnsie
Hi Thanks for the BIOS tip. Everything works well, SL installs perfectly, until I remove the USB key with the leopard installer on it and reboot. When starting up, it hangs at the light gray screen with the apple logo and a spinning wheel. Any ideas? Andrew Spec: Intel DG31PR mobo, ATI 1950 XT, 4gb ram, 80gb SATA HD, SATA DVD edit: Fixed. Now running Snow Leopard... anotherlogin
First of all i would like to thank everybody who has contributed to this topic. Your experience and advice is much appreciated. Take a look at this picture: Does anybody else get this? It should list ICH7 Controller but it seems to be blank? Now i have been playing around with device id's for hours but still nothing! This could be related to the LEGACY option for drive configuration in bios, I get the same thing when Selecting NATIVE mode. From what i can tell it looks like OSX is seeing the SATA ports as IDE but still listing them as Serial-ATA device in System Profiler, if that makes sense? IORegistryExplorer path: IODeviceTree:/PCI0@0/IDE1@1F,2/CHN0@0 Its also listed as a ICH7 device in IORegistryExplorer, so it looks like OSX detects the device but doesn't list it in System Profiler? Any solutions? Anyone else noticed this? Strange!
