AppleNForceATA problem... help?

Alright this is my first post, so I'm gonna try and keep it detailed enough for you guys to help me.

I'm running:

Mobo: ABIT NF-M2S

Processor: AMD Athlon X2 5600+

RAM: Corsair 2GB (1x1GB)

Hard Drive: Seagate SATA 250GB

DVD Drive: Writemaste IDE

Graphics Card: XFX nVidia 8600 GT 256 MB

Now I've tried both Kalyway's 10.5.2 and iPC's 10.5.6

Both give me these errors in booting up the INSTALLATION in Vebrose mode:

Still waiting for root device

And the waiting part goes on and on. I was wondering if somebody could maybe help me? Please? Thank you
