I downloaded and made a boot dvd using release1. I still have no AC97 audio eventhough AppleAC97Audio.kext is now present. My system is:

Albatron PX845PEV Pro Motherboard, Intel Pentium 4 2.4B Northwood 533MHz FSB Processor, Corsair Twin512-3200C2PT Memory, Western Digital Caviar Special Edition WD1200JB Hard Drive, Saphire RADEON 7000 PRO Graphics, On Board Realtek AC'97 Audio, On Board 3Com 3C910-A01 LAN

The Audio is produced by the Intel ICH4 southbridge chip and when I originally booted the computer after installation, AppleAC97AudioIntelICH.kext was showing along with AppleAC97Audio.kext.

On the second boot, it was gone.

Is there any manual steps that can be taken to make the correct drivers load?

did you try extracting the file from the dvd then edit it to make your sound work??
