sjpapa
Hello, Does any body have an idea why suddenly I get a blue screen? I can boot only with -x (safe mode), when I check the Settings>Display the refresh frequency is set to 59.9 Hz, changing it to 60Hz makes screen blue, verbal mode continues until blue screen is displayed. Hardware: MB GA-EP45-DS3L, NX8600GTS, 10.5.8 was running since spring. started from iPC DVD... Tried to update 10.6 on a new cloned disk... have still the old chameleon bootloader. Found a workaround: When in -x safe mode: Go to Settings>DeskTop Screen Saver and activate Hot Corners, Sleep display + Screen Saver + Disable screen saver. When the blue screen appears I go to Sleep display and then to another point. This slaps the NVInject and makes it wake up.... Evo85
So you ran a system wide repair with kext utility in safe mode and that resolved everything? Is the display settings menu stable now ie. are you able to freely change amongst resolutions with it? Sorry you got no help with your original post - glad you posted though :-) I have similar problem with a fresh Gigabyte Boot 10.6 with 9800 GT - change in cabling to another port on the Vid card (switched form hdmi to dvi port) resolved my issue but I am afraid to go near the display options... repairing permission with kextutility did it!
