I have a hackintosh with a bluetooth-dongle, and my Apple keyboard is working like a charm in OS X 10.5 (well ok, as "charmy" as any Bluetooth-device can work!).

I'd like to get it to work before the OS loads so that I can access the boot-menu, BIOS etc.

From the link below, I read that some BT-dongles in theory are able to present a BT-keyboard as a regular keyboard to the computer (as a HID device), but that it often doesn't work in practice.

Has anyone had any luck with some specific Bluetooth-dongle and an Apple BT keyboard?

I sometimes use a Dell Bluetooth keyboard with my Unibody MacBook,

It works fine even at startup when I want ot use the ALT function to select a Boot device! One just have to keep pressing the appropriate keys to get the device to activate. I can see this by the bluetooth logo lighting up once then I know it has connected, the same goes for my Magic Mouse, and my Dell Bluetooth mouse!

Hope this helps somewhat....?

. . this works with a DBT-120 [versions up to & including b4], when flashed with Apple Bluetooth Firmware 1.20/1.2.1

From what I recall this flashing-tool has to be run from a PPC Mac [mebbe Rosetta might save things] & I ran it under 10.4.x

Once flashed, the DBT-120 won't work under Windows [well, there is in fact a way; but it is a bit complex] & has the desired function ie you can get into the BIOS using your BT k/b . . . .

. . . but only, of course, if your BIOS doesn't require pressing [Windows] 'del' - the current Apple bluetooth k/b doesn't have an Windows 'del' key, natch . . . . :)
