Hi all. i think the topic speaks for itself. a few hours ago i installed the usb fix 1.3 (i believe it was 1.3. it was an installer package) so that i could plug in usb thumbdrives without my usb support crashing. upon reboot, i get the "still waiting for root device" message. now usually im a god at getting past this error, but to no avail. I booted into my experimental snow leopard install, located the installer package, browsed the contents, and tried running the restore original copy file inside the installer package. made sure to set it to my mac hd volume not the SL volume. rebooted, tried to get back into leopard, still the same thing.

since that point, i've been using various kernel flags such as rd=disk1s2 (my leopard install), tried -v -f for reloading kexts, i tried single user mode but it doesnt get far enough to give me a prompt before giving me this error again. at this point i dont know what to do, i thought maybe someone here in the forums could give me advice. i have one other idea, and thats to re-download and copy my jmicron ATA and jmb30 kexts back into the extensions folder.

anybody have any other ideas to try? Like i said, ive been running this install for 2 months with zero issues, and it seems this has only happened since installing the usb fix. i had no idea a usb fix could mess up my ATA.

my system:

AMD64 4200+

3GB PNY ram

iDeneb 10.5.7 leopard

ECS KA3-MVP motherboard (jmicron chipset. ugh)

apple aluminum keyboard / mighty mouse
