So today I needed to upgrade from 10.5.6 on my Dell D610 laptop to 10.5.7 (because the Iphone SDK requires 10.5.7 as a least minimum config).

I followed some instructions but now my machine won't boot. Basically I went through the normal download of the Apple Upgrade, did the back up of the kexts and kernel using OSX86Tools, ran the terminal script (which didn't appear to do anything) however OSX86Tools wouldn't start up after the upgrade was done and the machine just restarted itself.

Now it goes to the apple OS loading screen, then just resets the computer.

I've tried downloading the IPC OSX86 10.5.6 Universal PPF6 Universal DVD installer (twice in fact from 2 different places) but in both cases the laptop fails on start up from disc - same error in both cases. It asks me if I want to startup from CD, which I try, and then it crashes out with a large stack trace talking about Kernel Panic?

"nfs_boot_init failed with 6\n"@/VoodooKernel/xnu-1228.7.58/bsd/nfs/nfs_vfsops.c:851

Bit dramatic and certainly fairly unintelligable.

So what do I do now? I can't seem to even reinstall 10.5.6 and then re-try upgrading to 10.5.7. Any one out there got any ideas?
