Harold
I installed OS X on my PC via VMware but when I actually boot to the disc and enter the true installation, I get through the basic system install and then it switched over to "The Essentials" and says "there was an error in the installation" and then tells me to try again. Anyone have this problem? Or any ideas on how to bypass "The Essentials" though the name makes me think that doing that will be rather problematic... Thangsang
:censored2: You can't bypass the ESSENTIALS and I had the same problem. But I was able to install it from the image in hdd and if you're able to install it from your hardisk then you're in luck. As for me I burned the DVD with a Sony but during installation I faced the same problem so I used another DVD (only reader - Samsung) and I was able to install natively from the DVD disk. So ultimately, the problem was a read error from the DVD writer. It happens many a times with DVD writers. It writes correctly and can't read the same. But it is read nicely by other readers. So it's common. You try using another DVD reader and install it. It will work fine.
