cukaracha
Hey there I'm hoping someone can help me out here. Before anything, here are some details. Computer specs: 1. Motherboard version: F80Q 2. Processor: Core2 Duo T5800 2.0g 3. Ram: 2gb 4. HDD: 250gb I have tested the iATKOS_v1.0i on Microsoft Virtual PC, Sun Virtual Box and VMware Workstation. ALL of them do not work. Here's the problem description: 1. Mount .iso image and boot 2. type -v at darwin boot 3. grey apple logo + background flashes for an instant 4. on Microsoft Virtual PC: a) Using default image capture; "An unrecoverable processor error has been encountered" b.) using daemon tools to mount iso: "sytem config file '/library/preferences/systemconfiguration/com.apple.boot.plist' not found" 5. on VMware Workstation: a) "A virtual CPU has entered the shutdown state. This would have caused a physical machine to restart. This can be caused by an incorrect configuration of the virtual machine, a bug in the operating system or a problem in the VMware Workstation software" I am yet to experiment with the other patched versions as they are still downloading. However, can someone please tell me if this just won't work on my laptop? What seems to be the problem here that I can't get it to work on 3 separate virtual machines? Thanks in advance. Note: Any additional hardware information needed, let me know. I can upload screen shots of the error message if need be as well. cukaracha
Just an update. I've tried mounting the iso with Alcohol 120%. However, its the same thing with Microsoft Virtual PC using daemon tools, and the same error message with VMware Workstation. I'm starting to think that maybe my hardware isn't compatible. Although this does confuse me considering I have an Intel Core processor and the specs of my laptop is relatively similar to that of an Eee PC.. any help here please? thanks again. Cucscspr
It's the kernel. I had the same problem, you need to find one that works with vmware. I have never been able to boot a vanilla kernel in vmware. EDIT: Just realized you are using iAtkos. Just use the busratio=9 method, iatkos already boots with a custom kernel I think. (not vanilla) Be sure to select it though when installing or it will install the vanilla by default I believe. I've had good luck with the following: voodoo Toh (older kernel though) Qoops You can just name the kernel whatever you want and copy it to the install dvd or vm. then when you boot and press F8, type the name of the kernel (whatever you named it) then type busratio=9, so for example: voodoo busratio=9 -v "Graphics Mode"="1680x1050x32" and you should be good to go! Here's a good tut for Snow Leopard. I just installed it myself. Works pretty good.
