Hey, new guy here and I'm trying to install 10.5.6 on an Intel S5000XVN board.

I've searched looking for guides and such but haven't had any luck getting started.

Any guides or info you can direct me towards is greatly appreciated. Looking forward to getting Leopard installed on this board

Thanks for the help.

I've gotten this link from someone here for a bit of a guide:

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=119654

But I'm wondering what kexts I'm going to need to put in my USB boot loader in order to boot into the OS after it's installed.

Does anyone with this same board have an idea of what kexts I'll need to get this board up and running in Leopard?

Thanks.

Well I've tried using a couple of Grub DFE disks and they startup fine, I then run a retail install of 10.5.6 and I get the gray apple and the spinning circle but after a while a circle with a slash through it comes up and just stays there.

Any ideas how I can get the install to run and stop giving me the circle with the slash through it? I have the hard drive on a sata cable as well as the DVD player, I also have AHCI selected in the BIOS. I don't know what other settings I should be using in the BIOS.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Made a lot of progress but still need some help.

I changed the BIOS settings so that it would boot from the Boot132 CD and I changed SATA to Legacy, I installed 10.5.6 and it is installed and running. I had some video issues so I put in an EFI string for my nVidia 7900 GT and it cleared them up.

Now I would like to be able to boot from a USB key drive. I got the latest Chameleon boot loader and it boots to 10.5.6 but I have problems with the mouse as the cursor barely moves when you move the mouse, it's very slow.

Any ideas what I can do to be able to boot with Chameleon on a USB flash drive and get the mouse to act correctly?

Well another step closer I think it was some video kext not sure which one that was causing the mouse to move super slowly, mouse moves great after I created a new Chameleon USB boot loader.

New problem is that when you scroll through a window like Safari, or if you move a window around on the desktop the window become transparent and leaves remnants everywhere. I thought I had fixed that by putting in a EFI string for the video card a BFG 87900 GT OC when I was booting from the Boot132 disk but it doesn't work when I"m booting from the USB.

I'm very close. How can I fix my video? Here is what my USB Boot Loader flash drive has in it:

Well finally got it all sorted out. It was pretty simple actually. Just a matter of using OSX86 tools to stuff the EFI for the video card into boot.plist and then copying the boot.plist and putting it on the USB boot loader. Works a treat.

Thanks for all the help.
