Recently I have installed a retail copy of Snow Leopard on my dell vostro a860. I also updated to 10.6.1 with no problems whatsoever. But then, a couple of weeks after the update, my USB support just died completely. It won't detect anything plugged in, and a USB mouse won't work. I would greatly appreciate anyone's help, as my hackintosh is practically useless without USB support.

Here's a list of stuff that works and stuff that doesnt:

Wifi - no

Ethernet - yes

Video - yes

Bluetooth - no

USB - no

Trackpad - yes

Audio - yes

Keyboard - yes

Sleep - no

Battery meter - yes

Firewire - yes, but I haven't tried it

I would be EXTREMELY happy if anyone could help me!

I'm having a similar issue with my Dell Inspiron 1720. USB is broken, Bluetooth is Broken, Webcam is Broken. USB & Bluetooth worked straight out of the box, but at some point, Bluetooth disappeared, and USB stopped working. Very frustrating. Keep me in the loop if your figure it out.

dlanmaar - here is how to get ethernet working :) (although i can't guarantee it will work for you)

First, make a backup of IONetworkingFamily.kext which is located in /System/Library/Extensions/

Then download this IONetworkingFamily.kext http://www.megaupload.com/?d=OOW0H2VP and put it in your /System/Library/Extensions/ folder.

Reboot, and ethernet should be working :)
