Korrupted
Is it a BIOS limitation not being able to use a GMA card and another graphics card(Radeon in this case) at the same time? It seems whenever you put in a video card in my PC, it disables the GMA. I can't really pull out my Radeon, but I want to use my GMA card while I'm in Mac. I've already checked my bios, and I don't see an option to enable or disable the GMA at all. So is it possible to work around this? Superhai
I would guess that your m/b only can take one graphics card on the pci express bus. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/19526-is-this-a-bios-limitation/#findComment-127930 Share on other sites
Korrupted
Well the GMA isn't on the PCI Express bus as far as I know, so I don't think that's it. gwprod12
GMA is built into your northbridge... so, it's not on the PCI-E bus... But it's interfaced higher up than the bus. I dont know why you cant use an integrated graphic controller and a pci-express card, I just know you cant. gwprod12
Yup. But there's very little need for it for most people, I'd think. Since in the Windows world, all cards have drivers... Superhai
Well the GMA isn't on the PCI Express bus as far as I know, so I don't think that's it. What I mean is that I don't think the MCH is able to give enough bandwidth to both the pciex16 bus and the gma. Korrupted
Oh well..I think I'll just get an x1800 in the future..99% support, and I believe nearly the same specs as the x800 anyway.
